Special Announcement for all North American Fans
Sneak Preview of US and Canada dates for 2011…

Epcot Park, Orlando, Florida, US – October 8 and 9

Everyone had such a blast at Epcot last year – including Roger!  It was so much fun enjoying the international flavors of Epcot.  This will probably be Roger's last year to perform there, so bring your kids and come join him at the American Adventure Stage on October 8 or 9.  Watch for additional information in July.

Borgata Casino, Atlantic City, New Jersey, US – September 30 (fan presale in July- public sale by early August)

Be sure to check Roger's website and facebook page regularly for presale details which will be posted as soon as they are available. You will want to purchase tickets early as this intimate venue will sell out quickly.

Roger Headlines the 24th Gatineau Balloon Festival in Quebec, Canada on September 2

Continuing his world tour, Roger will return to Canada with his band to headline one of its most beloved family events, the 24th Gatineau Balloon Festival on the Loto-Quebec Stage.

“I'm very happy to be coming back to Quebec and playing at the Gatineau Balloon festival. For me it will feel like coming home because of the strong history I have with Canada – and especially with the people of Quebec. There was a time when one in fifteen Canadians owned both the Crime of the Century and Breakfast in America albums. This year I'll be bringing my stunning new band with me and hope to have Breakfast in Canada - up in a hot air balloon!“

Symphony Orchestra & Choir join Roger at Casino Rama in Orillia, Ontario, Canada on October 21 and 22 (Tickets on sale in July)

For everyone who has inquired if Roger will perform at Casino Rama again this year, yes, he is returning for his Ninth Annual performance with full orchestra and choir at Casino Rama in Orillia, Ontario, Canada on October 21 and 22.  We invite all the Toronto and Ontario fans to join Roger, his band, some of Toronto’s finest symphony musicians and the renowned Elora Festival Choir for a spectacular, spine tingling show.  Tickets will not be available until July, so no need to call the casino. We'll keep you posted.

Places des Arts in Montreal, Quebec, Canada October 28 and 29

Roger and his band end the 2011 World Tour in Montreal on October 28 and 29, where his four sold out shows at Places des Arts in 2009 attracted four generations of fans.  This is also where Roger recorded his stunning DVD, Take the Long Way Home, Live in Montreal in 2006. Come and share the celebration of Roger's much anticipated return to Montreal- this time with his band.

Hello Everyone,

Thank You for Your Response
We have had so many wonderful responses to the newsletter we just sent out. Many fans are asking us for more ways to connect with the International Community and to help support Roger as an artist and musician. So, we wanted to send this addendum to say thank you! And yes, we'd love your help!

First, we would like to thank all of our friends and fans all over the world for making Roger’s 2011 World Tour so exciting and successful! Many of you have written and asked how to keep participating in the tour with us. One of the things that has made our 2011 tour so successful is all the fans participating in Facebook, blogging, posting, twittering, and sending us updates on what you are seeing in the press and media. In this way you can keep the excitement building and help the public and other fans to be informed also.

So, please continue sending us updates from around the world - email us what you see and hear with radio, articles, billboards, and ticket sites, and record or take a picture if you can! The radio spots and TV ads we have received have been very helpful and enable us to correct misinformation. Plus, you can help correct misinformation you find by responding to whatever you read or hear in the moment. Post a comment on an article or review, post a blog, call in or write to the radio station, join a forum to help clarify something that isn't clear or correct.

Join Roger’s International Community Today!
Roger wants his closest fans to be the first to know about new shows added and to be informed about presales - to be first in line for the best seats in the house. So we invite everyone to sign up on Twitter and Facebook, invite your friends and family to participate, sign up on the mailing list, join the discussions on Facebook, find the latest articles and concert reviews, check out the latest videos, and connect with other fans going to concerts.

Please continue to share what Roger's music means to you. Describing a concert is a great way to share, and when you post on a blog or put a comment on an article you can give links to Roger’s website, to the fan sites, his store, or to your favorite Roger videos on YouTube.

Supporting Roger
And for all of you who want to support Roger even more as an artist, a musician, songwriter and composer, there is still much of the world that does not know his name, and you can help to change this. For example, if you see a video of Roger performing Dreamer and it's labeled "Supertramp" you can write in and say "This is Roger Hodgson- he wrote and composed this song, go to his website if you want to learn more about him."

We put just a few examples in our previous newsletter, but there are so many ways to respond if you hear something on the radio that might create confusion for the public about Roger being with Supertramp. You can write or call in to the radio station. Let the DJ's and public know that is Roger Hodgson and he's not with Supertramp - he is on his own world tour.

Or if there is something you find online that gives incorrect information, you can post a comment to clarify or correct things right away. For example, you could let people know "Roger Hodgson wrote this song. Even through a song may be credited Davies / Hodgson, Roger Hodgson wrote all the songs that he sings lead vocals on. He is the writer, composer and signature voice of many of the hits that made Supertramp great."

While watching videos of Roger on YouTube, you can “like” plus leave a comment.

Commenting on social media sites and blogs and tweeting are great ways to support your favorite artist.

Congratulations Roger!
Classic Rock Magazine’s Special Collector’s Edition honors Roger Hodgson for being among the 100 Greatest Songwriters. View Article here and join the discussion on Facebook - share why you feel Roger is one of the top 100 all time songwriters!

Roger Hodgson

Dear Friends,

Roger's 2011 World Tour began with a series of sold out shows in the US and Canada, then crossed over the Atlantic to Germany, Belgium, Denmark, and most recently, Switzerland - where Roger opened the Zermatt Unplugged Festival, at the foot of the stunning Matterhorn.

Roger’s next tour leg begins May 13 in Damme, Germany, followed by a performance in Morocco May 22, where Roger will be accompanied by the King’s orchestra. Next, Roger travels to London with his band, and begins his four-city UK tour at The Royal Albert Hall.

He finishes the month of May in Beirut and then takes a few weeks off before coming back with his band to Rapperswil, Switzerland, June 24-25 and the Brussels Cirque Royal June 29.

You will want to keep checking the Tour Page and Facebook since not all of Roger’s Summer shows have been announced.

There have been so many wonderful experiences this year already. Roger’s performance in Barcelona was a blast -made even more memorable by the surprise presentation of a miniature 12 string Guitar made of the most delicious chocolate and a birthday book that Ana and her daughter put together - with the help of many fans from all over the world. Check out the great photos with the Spanish Fan Club.

And I know that all the fans who attended the special sound check & concert in Nurenberg will never forget Sabine in Malta joining Roger onstage via Skype and even being with us for the after show party. Much love to you Sabine – we’re happy you could join us and hope you are feeling better each day!

Roger Hodgson & Supertramp Update

Lastly, for those who have written to Roger and left personal messages for him on his Guest Book and Facebook about Supertramp’s tour we wanted to inform you that Roger will not be touring with Supertramp this year. Many are again confused by the Supertramp tour announcements, so we wanted to let you know that Roger did indeed reach out to Rick and his manager and promoters last year to try to create a real reunion, however they said no, so you will not be experiencing the original line up since neither Roger nor Dougie Thomson will be touring with the band this year.

We are very grateful for all your support and appreciate everyone who has written in to newspapers and radio stations on Roger’s behalf to help clarify the confusion created again this year with the announcement of Supertramp's concerts in Canada and France.

Here are some examples of the assistance provided by the fans:

Wendy in Vancouver sent us a link to The Province online newspaper announcing that Roger had just completed several sold out shows and that he was coming back with his band Supertramp. Many fans wrote in asking if this was true. It is not. The paper has since printed a correction. Thank you Wendy for helping to clarify this for other fans.

A festival that Roger performed at in 2008 in France proudly announced that Roger Hodgson was returning to their city again with his band Supertramp. Several fans wrote to the journalist and editor to let them know that Roger is on his own 2011 World Tour, with his own band and will not be performing at this festival. The article has since been removed.

Another French fan contacted us saying that the Supertramp tour was launched on the radio playing "Breakfast in America" and "Logical Song" sung by Roger, so he was sure Roger was going to be there. When he found out Roger was not coming, he called the program director at the radio station and the local promoter asking them to change the advertisement and use Ricks songs so others in the public are not fooled.

The other area that needs a lot of corrections is the ticketing sites. Fans have said they often see old photos of Roger with Supertramp offering tickets to a Supertramp show. And a post on Facebook said "I went to buy tickets to Supertramp in Canada and there was a solo picture of Roger and they had a YouTube clip of Roger performing Dreamer with an orchestra.

Click here to see an example sent in by someone yesterday.

These are just a few examples. Please use any of them in addition to your own ideas as suggestions of what you can do to help clarify for fans. And please continue to send us emails at harmonicmanagement@earthlink.net with descriptions when you hear something on the radio or when you see ads and let us know where you read it or heard it. If possible, it’s helpful to record or take a picture and send it to us so we can get it corrected.

We invite you to join our International Community and leave comments on Facebook or Roger’s Guestbook. Please also check out the other fan sites and join in some of the discussions. Your personal description of a concert is a great thing to share, too.

We’ll end this newsletter with some of the most recent concert reviews and some video links for you to enjoy.

Sincerely,

Linda & Shakti

Comments by fans at Roger’s 2011 shows:

“My wife and I traveled from Grande Prairie, AB.(4 hr drive) to catch our very first live performance of you last night at the River Cree in Edmonton, and believe me your show overwhelmed me more than any other show I have been to in the last 30 yrs. You had me singing almost all the songs of the night word for word! Absolutely fantastic! Please don't ever stop your touring; you are a truly gifted individual!”
~Scotty and Val

“Your songs were very touchy. There is so much love in them. Your voice brought me back in the old times...Thank you for playing `the awakening` it was like a soul massage. Every time you grabbed your twelve string guitar I hoped you would play it.”
~Angelika

“I'm just a 19 year old kid, a musician (guitarist) looking to find my way into the world of music, just like you were many years ago when you started Supertramp. Your music and lyrics are beautiful, I just listened to two of your albums 'Even in the Quietest Moments' and 'Crime of the Century' ..All I can say is you are a genius. I am in fact still in awe that I was actually able to experience my favorite artist, playing music from my favorite band, Supertramp, live in concert. You are an inspiration.”
~Ryan

“I was blown away! The music evoked a flood of memories. I smiled, cried, sighed and remembered, but mostly I enjoyed. Roger's songs are deeply personal and he sang them with a grace and style that brought true meaning to his lyrics! His stage presence is incredible! He is a sincere, humble English gentleman, and by the end of the evening you feel as though he has been your friend forever. I was deeply moved by his performance. He touched my soul.”
~John

Roger Hodgson

Roger Hodgson's 2011 World Tour begins in North America,
then on to Europe, Including the UK - and more!

Hello Everyone,

We're very excited to be preparing for another wonderful year. We've got some great concerts in beautiful venues such as Palau de la Musica in Barcelona (the only show in Spain this year), Royal Albert Hall in London and our newest addition La Place des Arts in Montreal (on sale this Tuesday).

Roger begins his 2011 World Tour at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Southern California. His sold out concert here last March drew fans from all over the Western United States, including Hawaii. This year Roger kicks off his tour with two concerts at Pechanga - February 25 and 26 - and he's bringing his red hot band! So if you couldn’t get tickets to last year's show, don't wait. Tickets are on sale and going fast. Here’s what one fan had to say about their experience of Roger last year at Pechanga.

“I have been making it a point to see some of the bands I enjoyed in my teens and twenties, chasing my youth and sharing the experience with people who could relate. Well this concert transcended that, and absolutely no one I see will be able to compare. Roger hasn't lost a step and sounds and plays like time has been frozen for him. The sounds and words echo as powerful as ever.”

February 25- PECHANGA RESORT & CASINO- Temecula, CA, USA
February 26- PECHANGA RESORT & CASINO- Temecula, CA, USA

While in Southern California, Roger will appear at The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles February 28. He will be interviewed in front of 200 audience members in THE GRAMMY MUSEUM Sound Stage by Executive Director Robert Santelli. The evening will include an audience Q&A session, as well as a short musical performance (not a full concert). Tickets are very limited for this special engagement and go on sale the first week in February at the Grammy Museum.

Following his Southern California dates, Roger heads north for his first of only three shows in Western Canada this year. He starts off at the state-of-the-art River Rock Show Theatre whose unique design means every seat is the best seat in the house. Roger’s last performance in Vancouver was five years ago at the end of his 2006 Canadian National tour and we are not sure when he will return again. These shows are on sale now and almost sold out so don’t delay buying tickets.

March 3- RIVER ROCK CASINO & RESORT- Richmond (Vancouver), BC, Canada
March 4- RED ROBINSON SHOW THEATRE- Coquitlam (Vancouver), BC, Canada
March 5- RIVER CREE CASINO & RESORT- Enoch (Edmonton), AB, Canada

A Very Special Announcement for Quebec!

Roger is returning to Montreal where Supertramp first broke in Canada in the 70’s and where he filmed his first DVD, which went to #1 across the country and sold multi-platinum. On his last visit to Montreal's SALLE WILFRID-PELLETIER in 2009, Roger played four sold out shows. He is returning October 29 with his band playing both his Classics and some new songs to enchant his audience.

We wanted to let you know in advance so you could be first in line Tuesday at noon, EST. There will be a limited number of VIP packages which include the best seats in the house, access to sound check and an autographed CD. So spread the word - this show will sell quickly!

Tickets on sale Tuesday, January 18 at NOON EST at www.pda.qc.ca or call 514-842-2112.

And for those of you who haven't experienced Roger in this beautiful theater, take a look ☺
"Take the Long Way Home"- This video includes a special intro from Roger’s DVD, Take the Long Way Home, Live in Montreal

Roger has many more special shows coming this year…as his tour takes him to Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, France, Morocco, UK, Norway…and beyond.

As most of you who follow Roger's touring know, he has been crisscrossing the globe for the last six years playing for fans in all parts of the world. We wish he could go to every country and every city, but we've been spending so much time in airplanes and airports that we realized we need a different plan for 2011. So we'll be doing fewer shows this year, but in some very special places - and with enough advance notice so that fans who want to see Roger can plan ahead and travel.

We've found that many fans are already making plans to meet up at particular shows- like Nuremburg- where fans from eight countries gathered in 2009. They surprised Roger during the show and sang Happy Birthday, and it was very touching for him and all in the audience. This year many fans will unite again in Nuremburg on March 15 to celebrate Roger's return. So if you don’t see a show listed in your country, check the tour itinerary for places you'd love to visit and meet other fans and friends.

Read what other fans are saying about Roger’s concerts:
“Last night I came back from your concert in Grenoble (I live in Switzerland, we drove 4 hours in total, and very happy), and it was the most wonderful concert I've ever been to. Nothing to be compared to. There was so much love, every second was from heart to heart. I even had tears of joy while listening to you. The whole audience was under your effortless spell. It's something I will remember forever, and I want to come back as many times as you come.”

“I want you to know that almost every song Supertramp put out is part of my best teenage memories. I love your music today just as much as I did back then. I find it amazing to see you are Supertramp the voice, the lyrics, the music all yours. Your talent is incredible. Thank you for pursuing your dream and sharing yourself with the world.”

“WOW! The audience went crazy with enthusiasm within 30 seconds! I enjoyed every second of it. Thank you, thank you, thank you Roger, for your extremely beautiful songs (especially my big favorite "Along Came Mary"), your “larger than life” contact with your audience and your everlasting good mood and smile. Thanks for the extra 30 minutes you gave us at the end of the concert is very, very much appreciated!”

We and Roger look forward to seeing you in 2011!

Roger Hodgson

Dear Friends and Fans,

Roger had over 60 shows in 17 countries in 2010, and his 2011 World tour will take him from the US to Canada to Europe... and beyond. Many dates are already on sale in Germany, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, and Russia. UK fans can look forward to Roger's UK tour in May, including a return to The Royal Albert Hall in London. And not to worry if your country was not mentioned here, as more dates are being added to the tour page on Roger's website and Facebook as details are confirmed.

Gift someone you love CLASSICS LIVE for Christmas. If you have not checked out Roger's new album, you can hear samples and purchase the album for $9.99 on Roger's website. Some fans have purchased multiple downloads to send along with personal messages to their friends and family as Christmas cards, which we thought was a great idea. You can also download Breakfast in America today for free. See simple order instructions below, along with the review from David Wild, contributing Editor for Rolling Stone.

Roger enjoys reading all the messages on his guestbook and Facebook pages. Although he is not always able to respond, his heart is touched. We hope to see many of you on my tour next year and thank you for your continued support throughout the years. We wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday season.

With much love,
Linda & Shakti

CLASSICS LIVE ALBUM REVIEW

"…An utterly inspired collection of live performances of the best-loved songs that Roger Hodgson has Classics Livewritten and sung to date, Classics Live reminds us in the most vivid way who brought the world such beloved rock standards as "Give A Little Bit," "Take The Long Way Home," "The Logical Song" and "Dreamer," and why these shining songs endure as deeply personal yet somehow universal expression of longing, love and our endless search for human connection. Hodgson's performances on Classics Live were recorded in various venues around the world, from France to Brazil to Germany to Venezuela. Some of the performances here are acoustic, some with a small rock band; others find Hodgson backed by an orchestra too, and yet the entire album holds together as the deeply felt song cycle of a lifetime from an artist who for too long has been too humble to lay claim to his own remarkable musical legacy. Roger Hodgson may have taken the long way home, but with Classics Live he's back and he has never sounded better."

French Tour ~ C’est Magnifique!

Roger’s French tour has just finished and it has been very special! Roger’s last performance was a sold out show in Nantes tonight and with that he says Au Revoir... This was Roger’s first Provincial tour since his last tour with Supertramp in 1983 and as a special treat he’s performed songs that the French Fan Club requested to include in his set lists. For more stories and experiences of fans that attended the French shows, please visit RogerHodgson.fr.

And here’s a short, but so sweet, review of Roger’s recent show in Tours:

The soul of Supertramp
He's the writer and lead singer of the mythical group
Supertramp. Even when performing solo, Roger Hodgson
sent shivers down my spine.

It was probably not by chance that Roger Hodgson yesterday began his French tour in Tours. The local audience does not have the reputation of being, how can I put it, the ‘hottest’! And when 2000 fans of the legendary group from the years 1975-80, Supertramp, found themselves sitting on their numbered seats to see Roger Hodgson alone on stage - or almost - one feared the worst. Well, no! It took just a few piano notes, and that well-known voice in a million, for Roger Hodgson to take us on a long journey back to our teenage memories. He even brought the entire audience to their feet with "Dreamer." I have dreamed of seeing that for a long time. Roger did it. Thank you, Sir!

And, You can visit Roger's French Tour Blog, the Guestbook, Roger’s Facebook and the wonderful French Fan club site to read fans’ experiences of his September shows, here’s a short sampling:

“Dear Roger,
It's hard to express the emotions that you gave us last night in Toulouse. Can you imagine that your music is a great part of my live since I'm 8 years old. My first disc ever was Breakfast in America, and since then all of your songs have followed my instants of joy, of sadness, of love. Though you wouldn't like me to tell that, your are one the greatest composers and singers of all times. And yesterday you and Aaron reached the perfection in the way you played your songs!
"Hide in your shell" was so moving. "Dreamer" and "Logical song" literally put in trance the audience. Thank you for having played "Surely", a song that looks like you, pure, simple and eternal. Oh, I could speak of all the songs, every single one is a jewel…”

~ Marc

“The feast of love...! Thank you for Roger’s performance yesterday in Paris. Brilliant! My English is too poor for describe all details of last night. So I offer you my profoundest impressions at least. I ask myself often how come? What is it what radiate of Roger’s soul? It is not only his incredible beautiful, clear & inimitable voice. It’s love first of all…then humility. He pretends nothing. He is what he is. Bringing not only his own person into focus, but making us feel it’s you who is most important, the center of his attention, and love.”
~ Marie

“When celebrity and talent go well with humility and humanity ...
I was present yesterday at your Paris concert and I would like to congratulate you. I was particularly sensitive to your legendary talent and behavior. No doubt that it is heart that makes you move forward. You have definitively chosen the best way and we will always remember yours songs and life philosophy especially during hard times. You’re a success story and what you have decided to do with it will always remain as an example which inspires us! "Bravo" and do not change anything! To conclude, we sincerely hope that you will not wait another 25 years time before coming back to Paris for a concert! So see you very soon! All the best!”
~ Gisèle

For Those Wondering why Roger is not on the

40th Anniversary Tour with Supertramp…

We are still getting emails from fans wondering why Roger isn't doing any special reunion shows for the 40th anniversary tour with Supertramp. So, for any of you that didn’t get the previous newsletters or haven’t read them again recently, please click here to read excerpts along with other articles where Roger has already shared about how he offered many times to join Rick and Supertramp for a few special reunion shows.

First of all, Roger wants everyone to know that his heart goes out to all his fans that have really wanted to see a reunion happen. As he shared in June “I enjoy the way I’m performing my music now more than ever, yet I know that it means a lot to the fans to see me on stage with Supertramp again and I feel it’s the right thing to do. It is because of the fans’ wishes I have offered, it’s my way of saying thank you to the fans for their support of our music all these years. None of us would be here if it weren’t for the fans.”

We feel part of the reason people are still wondering why a reunion show is not happening may be because Rick has never told the public about Roger’s many offers and how Rick & Sue made the decision to decline. When Roger found out about the 40th anniversary tour and all the requests from fans for Roger to reunite with the band started pouring in, he made his first offer to Rick to do a few special reunion shows. Since then he has offered many times and has sincerely tried to give the fans what you have been asking for.

Basically, Roger sent letters to Rick and he said no. We talked to their agent and they said no again. And still more fan requests were coming in for Roger to join for the 40th anniversary and since Rick and Sue Davies wouldn’t communicate with Roger, we talked to several promoters and they very much wanted it to happen so we had them talk to Rick and Sue, but they came back and said it’s an absolute no. Roger’s idea was to do at least one reunion show in each country and he kept his October calendar open for the possibilities
Bottom line, it’s not happening because Rick and Sue said no and wouldn’t communicate with Roger about it. He thought at least they would be willing to do a few special reunion shows for the fans, it seems that would have been a very feasible thing to do and Roger can’t see any reason why that couldn’t have happened. So, Roger just wants the fans to know directly from him that he really did all he could because he truly understands why so many fans want to see him together with Supertramp on stage again.

One of the reasons Roger continues to make music after all these years is because of his love for the fans and your love for his music and if there was any way it could have been possible to bring them the few special reunion shows with Supertramp that you wanted, he would have done it but it just wasn’t possible.
Roger will be writing more to you all about this and answering more of your questions, as soon as he’s had a little break from his French tour.
Roger sends his love to everyone.

ROGER HODGSON BRINGS HUGELY SUCCESSFUL

2010 WORLD TOUR TO EUROPE

Extends “olive branch” to ex-band Supertramp ~

offers reunion shows, but gets no response.

The original voice and composer of classics like "Breakfast In America,"

"Logical Song," Dreamer,” and “Give A Little Bit,”

will not take part in Supertramp's Anniversary Tour

Los Angeles, CA June 1, 2010 – Concluding the hugely successful South American leg of his 2010 World Tour, Roger Hodgson now heads to Europe for performances around the Continent this summer starting in Stadtallendorf, Germany June 5, and Trier, Germany June 6. Roger’s tour continues in Norway, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Spain, Belgium and France, as well as a jump over the ocean for Canadian shows in July. Roger ends his 2010 tour with a few US dates in November.

(Full World Tour dates)

The response to our shows in South America was overwhelming. The concerts were filled with warmth, enthusiasm and strong emotions. For most, English isn’t their first language, yet music is the language of the soul and it was felt by all. The fans’ appreciation and love for my music, combined with my joy in serenading them, is what creates magic,” said Hodgson. “I’m looking forward to continuing the celebration, playing for my friends and fans across Europe and North America in the coming months.”

(A multimedia review in Roger Hodgson World Tour Blog)

Roger Hodgson offers olive branch to Supertramp

Roger Hodgson co-founded Supertramp with Rick Davies in 1969, a partnership that dissolved amicably in 1983. When Hodgson heard that his former band-mates Rick, Bob Siebenberg and John Helliwell were going out later this year on a Supertramp 40th Anniversary Tour, he offered to join them for a few special reunion concerts in response to the many requests from fans. Supertramp’s management has so far refused, and has not even publicly acknowledged Hodgson’s offer.

Last summer Rick and I talked about working together again, but it was about a totally different tour. It was never about a 40th anniversary tour and there were no talks that included the classic line up. In fact, it was a total surprise hearing Rick say he wants to put the old band back together, because last year he was adamantly opposed to working with John, Bob and Dougie due to the law suits that had been going on between them the last few years.”

As far as Rick and Sue now claiming there were 15 months of discussions, I guess they are counting from the one time we met in 2008 until they stopped returning our calls and emails last summer, even though most of those months there was no communication between us at all. I can only surmise they want to give the impression we really tried, so all the requests for me to be a part of some special reunion shows will quiet down because the fans will think it’s impossible. But it is possible.”

I enjoy the way I’m performing my music now more than ever, yet I know that it means a lot to the fans to see me on stage with Supertramp again and I feel it’s the right thing to do. It is because of the fans’ wishes I have offered, and the offer is still on the table as my way of saying thank you to the fans for their support of our music all these years. None of us would be here if it weren’t for the fans.”

Hodgson speaks out about misleading advertising appearing in Europe

Hodgson went on, “I have become very close to the fans through touring over the past few years and I’ve heard from many how on Supertramp’s last tours, and again on this current tour, some radio stations are playing the songs I wrote and sang lead vocals on to announce the Supertramp concerts. After playing The Logical Song, Breakfast in America, Give a Little Bit or Dreamer with my voice singing, they announce ‘that was Supertramp and they are coming in concert... giving the cities and dates.’ In the past, many people attended the Supertramp shows expecting to hear my voice, and I was not there.”

So I’m very unhappy to see the misleading advertising with my photos and my voice appearing again. Much of the public think of my voice as one of the trademark sounds of Supertramp and they recognize my voice but they don’t know that it’s Roger Hodgson singing. So if my picture or my voice is used to announce Supertramp, it is confusing even if some of the articles say Roger Hodgson will not be part of this tour. It is of course not right when my voice, image and likeness are used to promote someone else’s tour, and I need to speak up about it.”

Agreement between Supertramp’s Songwriters

(Full Songwriter’s list)

When they parted ways, Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies had a gentleman’s agreement that Rick would keep the name Supertramp, and Roger would keep the approval rights to the songs he wrote. In this way, their different styles as songwriters and artists would be delineated: Supertramp would become a vehicle for Rick’s music, and Roger Hodgson would become a distinct solo artist defined by his own voice and musical expression. Every band makes different business arrangements as partnerships are dissolved and assets divided. Hodgson said “After 14 years building the Supertramp name, which had become very valuable, what I cared about most was taking my individual art, songs and compositions with me. Rick and I began writing and composing separately, starting before Crime of the Century, yet we continued to share songwriter’s credit, similar to Lennon and McCartney, which I deeply regret.”

My songs were written and composed when I was alone and come from a deeply personal place, they were not written with Rick or Supertramp. These songs are pieces of my heart and soul that I put into song. The band didn’t share the philosophical and spiritual beliefs that I wrote about, and Rick didn't even like a lot of my songs and argued against some of them being included on the records. Yet ironically, now some of those very same songs are being used to sell his tour. I feel that as an artist you want to be authentic and original and believe in the music that you perform.”

I feel I need to speak up as a voice for artistic integrity, not only for myself but for every artist that’s had someone claim credit for their creation be it a songwriter, screenwriter, artist, inventor or creator of any kind. Anyone who knows me knows I am a very easy going guy, yet it’s time for me to speak up for integrity in the music business, for honesty in advertising, and for all my fans and the public who I don’t want to see misinformed.”

Simultaneous Roger Hodgson & Supertramp tours in Europe

Rick has written so many songs himself, he went on to create several albums after I left Supertramp. He has more than enough great songs to fill a concert. Many fans have said they prefer me performing my own songs, rather then hearing them at Supertramp concerts. And since we are both touring at the same time fans have the opportunity this year to hear me sing my classics as the original songwriter at my concerts. And the Supertramp tour is the opportunity for fans to hear Rick’s musical style and songs.”

The good news is, since we are both touring simultaneously in Europe, fans will be able to go see Supertramp and Roger Hodgson concerts both in the same year. And if Rick will change his mind there could be a few special reunion concerts as well.”

About Roger Hodgson

Roger Hodgson is recognized as one of the most gifted composers, songwriters and lyricists of our time. As the legendary voice, writer and arranger of most of Supertramp’s greatest hits between 1970 and 1983, such as The Logical Song, Breakfast in America, Give a Little Bit, Dreamer, It’s Raining Again, Fool’s Overture, School, Lord Is It Mine, and Take the Long Way Home he has composed and recorded enduring songs that have become the sound track of the lives of two generations of fans. A Roger Hodgson concert is an amazing event that leaves the audience feeling uplifted, renewed, excited, and wanting to come again. Those who have been to Roger’s concerts will agree there is a very special connection Roger makes with his audience.  He gives his whole heart in every show, and sounds better live today than in the recording studio more than a generation ago.

(Roger Hodgson’s Full Bio)

"There are few vocalists instantly recognizable from the first few bars of a song but Roger Hodgson is certainly one of that unique group. The singer/songwriter of Supertramp, his voice is as unmistakable as the distinct keyboard sound of his early hits."

~The London Times

I am a long time fan, not only of Supertramp but of Roger Hodgson as a solo artist. You are truly an artist extraordinaire and above that a true gentleman, your ability to touch the audience not only through your music but also your kindred spirit is unsurpassed by any.”
