Former Supertramp vocalist spoke to CAMBIO

ROGER HODGSON, former singer of Supertramp, has just released "Take the long way home", a DVD that relives big classics as "School", "Logical song" and "Dreamer". He spoke to CAMBIO from Los Angeles.

What is the aim of this DVD?

Getting the fans feeling the magic of our show. It's a wonderful way to reach all the places where we can't play and to keep alive our legacy.

Watching this show I have the feeling that I'm before a whole band...

I think the secret is my voice projecting itself. I enjoy these kind of shows because they get the people closer, and this intimacy is very important for me when I'm playing. That's why the union of piano, guitar and an excellent saxophone gets that amazing full sound.

How did you make the arrangements?

Having been the writer of all these songs, I am able to make the right changes on them. I sing these songs in the same way I did it when I was in Supertramp, but now I have a great feeling that arises from the deepest place in my heart, and I think that is the reason why these new versions sound so good.

When will there be a Supertramp reunion?

I wanted to do it when we released "Retrospectacle" anthology late in 2005, but Rick Davies didn't want to. So I decided to concentrate on my solo tours. My reunions are with my fans. They make sense of my music and I think they feel that my songs were the real heart inside Supertramp.

Do you plan to play anytime in Colombia?

South American fans are incredible, so it would be very special for me to visit your country. We just have been waiting for the call from a promoter to go there and play all these classic songs.
