Bad Lippspringe (WB/per). Er wird auf der Straße sicherlich kaum erkannt, und seinen Namen kennen auch nur hartgesottene Fans. Seine Stimme aber kennt jeder: Roger Hodgson war einst die Stimme der Erfolgsband Supertramp. Seit 1983 ist der Brite solo unterwegs. Dass die von Hodgson geschriebenen Ohrwürmer nichts an ihrer Faszination verloren haben, zeigte das Konzert am Sonntagabend in Bad Lippspringe (Kreis Paderborn).

Kaum hatte Anastacia die Kurstadt nach einem begeisternden Auftritt verlassen, da stand mit Roger Hodgson tags darauf das nächste musikalische Großkaliber auf der Bühne der Landesgartenschaustadt. Knapp 1500 Besucher - die meisten aus der Generation 50 plus - wollten sich das Wiederhören mit Hits wie “Dreamer”, “It’s raining again” oder “Give a little bit” nicht entgehen lassen. Und sie wurden nicht enttäuscht. Hodgson und seine exzellente vierköpfige Band spielten sämtliche Klassiker.
Daneben gab es auch Neues aus der Feder des Singer/Songwriters - Stücke, die mal ein wenig mysthisch, mal ein wenig esoterisch angehaucht daherkommen. An alte Hitzeiten anknüpfen kann Roger Hodgson damit nicht, doch tut das seiner Popularität keinen abbruch. Wenn der mittlerweile 67-Jährige mit seiner einzigartigen Falsettstimme “The Logical Song” zum Besten gibt, dann fühlen sich wohl die meisten im Publikum an gute alte Zeiten, den ersten Kuss oder wilde Partys im elterlichen Keller erinnert.

Bad Lippspringe (WB/per). Certainly he will hardly be recognized in the street and his name, too, is only known to die-hard fans. But his voice is known to everyone: Roger Hodgson once was the voice of the successful band Supertramp. Since 1983 the Briton is touring solo. The catchy tunes, penned by Hodgson have lost nothing of their fascination as the concert on Sunday in Bad Lippspringe demonstrated.

Anastacia had only just left the spa town after a thrilling performance, when Roger Hodgson took the stage one day after – another musical master. Around 1500 visitors – most of them belonging to the generation 50 plus did not want to miss hits like „Dreamer“, „It's Raining Again“ or „Give a Little Bit“. And they did not get disappointed. Hodgson and his excellent four-piece band were playing all of the classics.
Besides, there were new songs written by the singer/songwriter – pieces that come along at times with a bit of mythical touch, at times a bit esoteric. With those new songs, Roger Hodgson may not tie in with the old hit days, but that does no damage to his popularity. When the 67-year-old sings „The Logical Song“ with his unique falsetto voice, then most people in the audience probably feel reminded of the good old days, the first kiss, or wild parties in their parents's basement.
