One lucky fan attended the Montreal show AND had a sneak peek of the DVD. Here’s his review:

This day was simply amazing. I was there in the front row with my parents and nine of my friends to see the concert of my idol, Roger Hodgson. It was a few minutes before the concert, and we could already start to feel the anticipation of the crowd. The spectators whistled and cheered the legend as he strode onto the stage. The cameras were ready to roll. Suddenly, my friends David and Lyne held up a blue banner that read: "MONTREAL LOVES ROGER HODGSON." It didn't take more than that to make the crowd roar like crazy. A few minutes later, the lights finally went out with Roger receiving a standing ovation of several minutes. The crowd applauded, shouted, whistled... what they were saying was: "Welcome back to Montreal Roger, we missed you!." The concert was, well just in one word, it was FABULOUS! This was my 20th Roger Hodgson concert and it was one of the best I've have ever seen. He played all his Supertramp classics, some solo songs (old and new). "Even in the Quietest Moment's" left me stunned. What a great concert it was!

Recently, before another sold out show in Northeast Quebec, I was lucky enough to be able to view a rough-cut copy of the first 20 minutes of the forthcoming DVD, and I have to say how deeply touched I was. A few minutes of the show was enough to give me shivers and put tears in my eyes. It is difficult to explain, however the DVD is so well filmed and edited that it's impossible to remain insensitive. When I saw it, I was so into it that it felt like I was really back there... in the first row with my parents and friends, and the gamut of the excitement and emotions we went thorough!

I just can't wait to listen to the DVD again. It will make a wonderful souvenir to all of his fans worldwide. When I miss Roger... I will be able to listen to the DVD and it will take me back to that magical day on June 6, 2006 in Montreal where Roger put Heart, Soul, and Voice into the word Musicianship.

"oh my god" is what I was saying when i first heard you sing this beautiful "supertramp" type song on the new d.v.d which is awesome all the way through. I LOVE your classic trade mark melodic soft rock/pop with soulful vocals, and the new song Keep the Pigeons Warm is classic Roger "AMAZING SONG".

Im very blessed to have seen you in london and casinorama and ive now watched you solo on d.v.d,its hard to say which i like better because there is something extra oomf LOL about the band with your beautiful melodic sound, and in saying that your melodies sound wonderful by yourself.

I know you have many TRUE lifelong fans and im proud to say that i am one of them, i still love SUPERTRAMP very much, though without you they are NOT the same, you were the magic and you still are. GOD BLESS YOU MAN,you are the greatest singer/songwriter EVER in my and many peoples opinion. ROCK ON ROGER !!!! i love you from the bottom of my heart.

PEACE AND LOVE,
Andy

p.s. PLEASE release the song Pigeons, it is a melodic masterpiece, i absolutley LOVE it, one of your best in a while, though i loved many songs on the open the door c.d too. You are my hero, my inspiration, my favourite singer/songwriter on the planet. GLORY GLORY

I hope you are doing well. I just received my copy of Roger's "Live in Montreal" DVD. I absolutely love it more than words can express. It is truly priceless.

Please give Roger my best and tell him his voice is ageless! Unbelievable!!!

Guita

Hi Roger!

My name is Annie, I'm 25 and I live to Montreal. You are my favorite artist of all since i'm 18 years old and I was curious about the Crime of the Century cover 33 tours. At this time, the song and the lyrics of School changed all my vision of music, me and my best friend. In September 2002, I had the BIG chance to take a picture with you at the Montreal Spectrum!!!

But now, my message is that: Congratulation because now, 23 September 2006, you are the NUMBER 1 selling DVD in the Archambault music stores (all Quebec). I am very happy. More and more young people learn to know you and appreciate your job! I was at your show at Montreal, 6 June 2006 and the DVD is AWESOME! I'm so happy to see the orchestra with you in Fool's overture because I've never seen it before.

Thank you Roger, thank you so much to give us the best music and voice of all time...

Annie

It was a true pleasure to hear you sing on the radio in the early morning at CHOM FM in Montreal last summer. This brought back memories, beautiful memories, great teenage feelings and fantastic pleasures. Having seen Supertramp a few times, I knew that the band was a great band but I always knew that the heart & soul of the band was you.

I want to thank you so much for picking Montreal to produce this DVD I was tonight and I wish I was there. I am lucky to have been able to appreciate this music in the 70s and 80s as I went thru my teen age and beginning of adulthood. I became a musician in the mid 70s because of bands like Supertramp, Genesis, Pink Floyd. Those bands were icons ...

Again, thank you for making this musical experience thru the DVD.

Your generosity is palpable ... Your passion for music is also so great, it made me pick up my Guild 12 string (An F-412 in fact) and play Just a little bit.

From the bottom of my heart, Thank you for being such a great inspiration and for the fantastic memories. Hope to see you in Montreal again soon ...

Yves

Hey Roger!

I just purchased a copy of ''take the long way home''. Wow! Thanks again for giving me that opportunity at the place des arts. The performance is marvelous! And about that new song ''Oh brother'', it is definitely for me the best song of the show. The outstanding vocal partition shows a mature voice and awesome power that's way beyond what I thought possible from a guy your age...! Comparing to other rock singers from the 70's, it's suprising to how you kept everything from your voice, and even gained some... You definitely blew me away!

And about that fall tour?? No dates in Montreal? Anyway, I'll have to get to Sherbrooke I guess!

Simon

Roger!

I'm now 38 and just can't believe my ears listening to your Live DVD. I saw you with Supertramp for the first time in 1979 at the Québec Colisée, Canada, for my first experience at a live performance. Bought all your LP's and CD's and now your DVD. And it seems that your voice and talent never changed! Well, i took this opportunity to let you know that you made my eyes «watering» at each song you perform on the DVD as i did in 1979. I had then took pictures (i know it was forbidden!) that i can share with you if you would like. I have a favor i would like you to do. I will attempt your show in Québec city on november 1st 2006, and would simply like you to dedicate «School» to my wife who is teaching nursing for 4 years now and because this «magical song» was playing the first time we met. I know that you must receive thousands of mail like this, but if i don't ask....

Thanks again for your music and for you passion.

P.s. excuse my english, i'm a french speaking canadian...!!!

Pierre

Just received the DVD from your website, what can I say totally BRILLIANT! As expected a real pleasure to see and hear you perform on your venture into visual music, hope there is more to come. Can not wait for you to come back to the U.K. Great to see you perform some of your Supertramp material and may I say your recordings since Supertramp are just as good maybe a few more in your concert would be good to see. Great to see a true talent performing as good today as you ever was. But please now as Oliver said, can we have some more.

Many thanks,

John

Roger,

I just listened to your dvd and you know, I really think that you should put a sticker on the cover saying something like: "Warning This dvd contains high emotions". By the way I was at the show that night. WOW!!! What a great night. Many thanks for that soundtrack Roger!

J.H.

Just finished watching the DVD. It was more than just watching a concert on TV. It was an EXPERIENCE. It was superb! Thank-you Roger!

Tom

My wife and i just finished watching Roger's DVD and were thrilled by how much we enjoyed it. We've been Supertramp fans from way back and were unsure how Roger would be by himself. We realize that he is the "voice" of Supertramp , but a lot of times when you get one person from a well known band going out on their own , it's such a let down. This was far from it.

We've been to Casino Rama for many concerts and have seen the ads for Roger in the past and wondered what it would be like to see him live. Now we have an idea and even though we can't afford to see him in October when he plays Rama again , we will try to see him next time he come's to our area , but we will be taking our 22 and 19 year old daughters to the concert as they've also grown up listening to Supertramp and were surprised to see Roger in his DVD and realize that he was the voice of all those great songs that mom and dad subjected them to over the years and that they themselves have grown to enjoy as their mom and dad did when they were in their teens.

Even if we can't afford to get to see Roger this year ,, we will have this great DVD to tide us over until he comes back again.

Roger , keep up the great work and keep the memories alive for all of us oldies.

Gord and Bonnie Watson

I just want to mention how much I appreciated your show on June sixth in Montreal. It was my brother's birthday present to me we had great seats eight row, I love your music it's timeless, your an inspiration to me and everyone I speak to, friends I talk to about you always say "what an amazing band Supertramp was to bad they broke up". I'm truly greatful for having went to your show in Montreal it was beautiful and memorable!

My girlfriend bought the DVD of the show in Montreal she never really new or listened to Supertramp when she was younger, we sat down that evening to watch the DVD I said to myself I just hope she will be as touched by your music as much as I was by the show in Mtland in the past, well guess what you have one more DIE HARD FAN NOW, after we finished watching the DVD we got on your web site and she wanted to see you right away, that night if possible! so we're going to Sherbrook on the 3rd of Nov and to the Orillia on the 28th of Oct. I can't wait to see you again, you truly touched my heart and Maggie's, I loved seeing how she absorbed all your songs she went out and bought 4 Supetramp cd's the next day.

"All the best Roger!!!! keep up the good work we love you"!

Maggie and Peter

Watched your new dvd !!!!!!!!!!!! WOW !! You sound fantastic!!! Great show, seen you live 4 times and this was by far the best ever YOU ARE THE MAN

Dan

Just finished watching the DVD. It was more than just watching a concert on TV. It was an EXPERIENCE. It was superb! Thank-you Roger!

Tom Drum

Got the dvd and its great, wow… congrats. I bought one for my brother in Canada and he loved it as well.

Alan

Ok now that I've watched the DVD 5 times now I can say it's still as great as the first time I've watched it. If you haven't gotten around to see Roger in concert this is the next best thing. If your a Supertramp fan or a Roger fan this DVD has it all the best of both worlds. Rick may have kept the name of Supertramp but Roger captures the essence of Supertramp. I personally am not a huge Supertramp fan but a Roger Hodgson fan and was glad to see Roger tracks like "love is a thousand times" and "lovers in the wind" made it on the dvd. Roger plays a new track on it "oh brother".

My favorite tracks on the dvd are "sister moonshine", "school","give a little bit" and ok ... well all the tracks are great like the concert. If you want to hear all the the Supertramp songs you grew up with in their rawest form buy htis dvd, you will be amazed how great these songs sound. Don't miss out on one of the greatest concerts you will ever see. There is only one thing bad with the DVD and the concert...it has to end, but the nice thing about the DVD is you can watch it again.

I'd like to thank Roger for putting out this DVD, I will cherish it as the treasure it is...Hope to see you in concert again soon.

Rick

This is one great dvd..i loved it all, the concert the bonus features..everything. The quality of the picture and the 5.1 sound are amazing. These songs are timeless and on the dvd they sound sooooo good...rogers voice is in great shape too..sounds just as good now as it did years ago.

I'll treasure this concert forever..its fantastic. Never seen much of roger other than in concert..he seems like a real nice guy having watched the interveiws on the bonus section.

PS. If Rick doesnt want to re-unite the tramp with roger then please dont play rogers songs in the concerts.

I saw post hodgson supertramp in paris in 1997, ricks songs were fantastic as i knew they would be but the guy singing rogers songs was awful IN MY OPINION. I left the concert feeling unfulfilled and dissapointed..i'd have prefered just to hear ricks supertramp songs.

I promised myself i'd never see supertramp again without the heart of the band (Roger) in the lineup...after watching the dvd last night i know i'm right.

Carl

Can't wait to see this concert i'm a huge fan of rogers...iv'e seen the song list and it's fantastic...hope there's loads of extra's on the dvd as well.

Carl Fitzgerald

I just finished watching the DVD and all I can say is WOW!! I am so proud to have been a part of that whole magical evening. The DVD is magnificent and really does justice to what an extraordinary performer Roger is.

Kim

The quality is superb!!! ... Everbody will love it for sure!

Sebastien

I think that you made such a good decision by choosing to start your DVD productions with Roger's solo shows. When we see you Roger, alone on the stage, making all these beautiful songs come to life, we strongly feel that you and your songs make only one, that you are inhabited by them. The whole feeling of the show is that we are taken on an intimate journey, sharing some of your life experience and it made us feel very good.

Marie

Wow…where do I start? I watched it twice last night including most of the bonus features. It has to be one the best live DVD’s I have seen and I have seen a lot. I rent them all the time and have 50 or so in my collection so it is a media that I am quite familiar with. The video is sharp and the colour levels are very good. The audio mix is also excellent in both the stereo and 5.1 mix…And I like the presentation of the extras and variety that was offered. It is a nice mix of interview, fan reaction, and Roger doing his thing (rehearsal, meet and greet, etc.)

Susan

I just finished watching the DVD - it is brilliant and very uplifting !

Jan

As a collector of concert DVD’s and as someone that works in the music industry, I get to see a lot of performances, some of which translate well into the DVD format, and some that don’t. It was obvious to me from the start that Roger’s live show had great potential for a performance DVD but I was not prepared for just how well it would come out. First off, the setting in Montreal was just perfect. The stage and lighting make for great visual images throughout the performance. You can definitely feel the vibe of the crowd and the level of energy is something definitely picked up in Roger’s performance. What really appeals to me is how you can see his passion for his music both in the show itself and in the commentary and behind the scenes shots.

Ron

In a word -- it's FANTASTIC!! For starters, the performance itself was really top-notch. Roger sang and played at the top of his game that night. The sound reproduction was excellent, as was the video quality. And the lighting and stage setup were very well done so that the end result is a treat to look at. The direction definitely stood out as a cut above -- lots of good camera angles and shots, but nothing gimmicky. I think just about anyone who says that he or she "likes good music" would really enjoy this DVD…this disc really is the next-best thing to seeing him perform live."

Jamie

I love this DVD!! I’ll watch it over and over again and will definitely be sharing it with my family and friends. (and buying it for Christmas presents) I wasn’t there for the Montreal show but watching this I really do feel like it’s my own private concert. And the bonus features are great- I’ve always wondered what it’s like to be backstage… now I know! Thank you so much for putting out this DVD, it’s a dream come true for fans like me.

Amy

I also just finished viewing the DVD (that I receive today) and the quality of the product (HD) is amazing ! Keep the good work !

Sonia

After seeing Roger at least 5 or 6 times with the band and alone in Canada and Germany last year the DVD is great. The kids (9 and 11) think so as well as Roger was their first concert in The Castle Garden in Germany last year. Looking foward to Rama in Toronto this fall. All The Best

The Hill Family

I was one of the lucky people to attend the excellent Montreal show, and one of the first ones at the store on August 22nd to purchase the DVD! It certainly captures the warmth and pure pleasure of that evening. Many thanks!

Marc

I bought the DVD on the 1st day of it's release. It truly was AMAZING !!! Some really nice gems there ... I loved the version of School, Lover's in the Wind, and Two of Us. Actually, all the tracks were really great. I have some personal favorites that I would have loved to have seen included on this DVD -- namely, If Everyone Was Listening (my favorite Supertramp song) and Lord, Is It Mine. Having said that, I'm hoping those songs will be included in his ST. JOHN"S NFLD SHOW on Nov 6th .... Tickets go on sale 12 noon on Aug 28th and guess who will be in line to get front row center tickets !!! By the way, my 16 year old son and two of his friends think Roger Hodgson is amazing and will be attending the concert with me. I believe his ability to capture the musical interest of kids, who have come from the Pearl Jam/Nirvana generation, is a true testament of the genius of Roger Hodgson. His music indeed have stood the test of time and we look forward to his new material. Best regards,

Roger

My wife & I purchased the new DVD on the day of its release and spent a wonderful evening reliving that great concert we were privileged to attend last June. The DVD is simply fantastic to watch, the video is crystal clear and the audio mix is perfect. We very much enjoyed the extras, especially the sound check section :-) Good job everyone! Thank you Roger for a beautiful souvenir of a very special evening. We hope to see you again soon in Montreal. Love & happiness,

Peter & Manon

Even if I haven't seen this DVD yet, I can say that it will be a delight to watch all over again! That's why I give it 5 stars! I was one of the crazed fans who welcomed Roger Hodgson on June 6th at the Place des Arts in Montreal. That night was unforgettable and magical! I don't know how it will translate to the screen, but let me tell you that it was one of the best nights of my life and certainly the best show I've seen in my whole existence! A little bird also told me that it was very emotional to watch! I already pre-ordered my copy. No way I'm going to miss that!

France Laferrière

hi mr.hodgson ..... just bought your DVD .... had a super great time watching it ..... what a blast from the past ... i also really enjoyed listening to "don't leave me now" ... never heard it before ...!! wow ..... but i could not give you a 10 as a score 'cause . "lord is it mine" wasn't played ..!! but let's say you probably deserve a 9.99!!!!!

really wish you and your loved ones a happy life ....... have a nice day

roger from Montréal

p.s. i can't get out of my head "fool's overture" since listening to it .... mdrrr. !!

Hello Roger I have recently purchased your concert DVD and I must say it gave me chills seeing you perform your songs, I was wondering if you have any plans to tour Southwestern Ontario ( Toronto, London) on this upcoming tour. Any chance of a Supertramp reunion in the near future. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks for the memories.

All the Best

Steve

Dear Roger,

The DVD is outstanding.

Aside from the disc's apparent production superiority, the intimacy of your performance and the depth of your compositions demostrate a wisdom far beyond your years at the time you wrote such beautiful music. We've both lived a little since the 70's.

To me it feels like you have grown into your own music.

Thank you for sharing your gifts.

I'll see you at Rama on the 27th of Oct. (if there are any tickets left). I'll be the content guy a few rows back... :)

Phil

Dear Shakti & Linda

Today I finally received the DVD! Fantastic what can I say? Congratulations to Roger, and you both, for putting together a truly remarkable DVD.

Although I hope that you will still one day release the Shepherds Bush show I have to say that the production quality of the Montreal show is second to none. It was a great performance - Rogers voice was as good as ever, and you can tell from the audience reaction that those there were really moved.

And the extras are also superb. The interview with Roger was very revealing. The behind the scenes footage was also unique as were the fans testimonials.

I hope this DVD is a great success - it deserves to be and I'll be spreading the word here in the UK.

Roger seems to be happy and is making wonderful music. Please pass on my best wishes to him and tell him how much his fans in the UK would like to see him take the long way home.

He has new fans too! My eight year old son loves his music and always sings his songs when he is happy. He has his own copy of the Retrospectacle CD in his bedroom and plays it most nights before he goes to sleep. James, my ten year old went to his first ever show when he saw Roger in London last year and still talks about it! We will all be there next time Roger is in town and my wife will request 'Lord is it mine'!

With all best wishes to you both.

Ramzi
