Hogdson revivió su musica en Quito

Alrededor de 5 000 fanáticos del músico británico asistieron al encuentro para ver a su ídolo y cantar con él

"¡Hola, Quito!", fue el saludo que, en su no tan trabajado español, dio a sus fans capitalinos el cantante británico Roger Hodgson, quien deleitó la noche del martes a la ciudad con un repertorio compuesto tanto por canciones realizadas en solitario como las que lo llevaron a la fama con su exagrupación.

"Take the Long Way Home" fue la primera canción entonada por el cofundador de la famosa banda Supertramp, que fue recibido de pie por más de 5 000 personas que acudieron hasta el Ágora de la Casa de la Cultura para escuchar a su ídolo y corear sus temas.

"Breakfast in America", "Dreamer" y "Jeopardy", entre otros temas, emocionaron a los asistentes, los que tararearon y silbaron con el intérprete.

En los graderíos, el público comentaba: "El tipo es un genio", "Canta y suena igualito que en el disco" o "El concierto es como los de antes".

Su cabello luce canoso, pues tiene 62 años, pero en el escenario, la edad fue lo de menos: vestido con pantalón negro, camisa blanca y chaqueta beige, más la fuerza de su voz, se mostró como un artista en todo su esplendor.

El músico británico dedicó también un tiempo, entre uno y otro tema, para compartir varios pensamientos con su audiencia. "Si quieren cantar y silbar conmigo, háganlo", dijo en inglés; fue entendido por todos y arrancó aplausos del auditorio completo, que disfrutó de todo el concierto de pie. (RE)

Al retirarse, sus miembros fueron ovacionados por el público, que los despidió de pie y con aplausos.

"¡Hola, Quito!", was the greeting that  in his not-so worked Spanish, gave  British singer Roger Hodgson to his Ecuatorian fans,  who delighted on Tuesday night  the city with a repertoire of songs performed both solo and which led him to fame with his former band.


"Take the Long Way Home" was the first song performed by the famous founder of the band Supertramp, who was received standing for more than 5 000 people who came to the Agora of the House of Culture to listen to his idol and chant his songs.


"Breakfast in America", "Dreamer" and "Jeopardy", among other songs, thrilled the audience, which hummed and whistled with the performer.


In the stands, the audience commented: "This guy is a genius" "Sings and sounds just like in the  album" or  " The concert is like it used to be."


His hair looks gray, he is 62, but on stage, age was the least of: dressed in black pants, white shirt and beige jacket, adding the power of his voice, he showed himself,  as an artist in the prime of his life.


The British musician also took his time, in between songs, to share several thoughts with his audience. “If you want to sing and whistle with me, do it ", he said in English; He was understood by all and drew applause from the full venue, who enjoyed the entire concert standing up.
