I can say that up until this concert of Roger’s in Madrid, I had never been to a venue that is located on land with such a rich
history. The outdoor venue sits on what
were formally the hunting grounds for the Kings of Spain, with the Royal Palace
in full view from the stage. I found
the setting to be quite fitting. Royal
grounds for our grandeur lyricist and composer, Roger Hodgson.
As soon as the doors opened, it seemed as if all of
Madrid was entering - people of all ages.
Plus, it was so nice to see so many families. Everyone was in such a jovial mood and
waiting for what was sure to be a most memorable night. What had started as a very warm day turned
into a cool evening with a strong breeze.
Roger came on stage at the precise ...

The weather was good that day - it had been raining the previous days, so we were very lucky that this promised to turn into a warm and dry summer night. The venue was outside in Weinheim's beautiful palace garden and when we arrived we found that there was plenty of food and drink available - they had everything from beer to sparkling wine, fried sausages to French fries available throughout the show. There was an abundance of eager security personnel in yellow shirts among rows upon rows of black plastic folding chairs tightly arranged in expectation of a very large, high spirited crowd.
Before playing "Give ...

What a setting.
Roger’s show at the Festival Voix du Gaou (near Toulon) took place on an
island surrounded by the most beautiful water that is many glorious shades of
blue. Under a beautiful
star filled sky with a full moon, Roger came out on stage to the roar of
applause from the near-capacity crowd.
Everyone was on their feet and so very eager to hear the man who gave us
eternal classics that we have loved for decades. Everyone was singing along to Take the Long
Way Home, Give a Little Bit, Dreamer, and School, to name a few. Roger also gave us a rare treat by
performing Surely.
There was so
much energy and excitement. When the
show was over, people didn’t want to let Roger go. A full twenty minutes after he left the
stage, there were still people yelling ROGER!!
HODGSON!! ROGER!! HODGSON!! He is loved ...
