WOW, what a day. We finally arrived at this historical venue in Carcassonne after an 18-hour bus ride from the show in Germany last night. We were warmly greeted by the French Fan Club and hugs were all around.
What a crowd! A true goosebumps moment at the start of the show was when the whole audience rose to their feet the moment Roger came out on stage. The amphitheater was full and the applause was so loud that most likely it could be heard throughout the village. Even the press photographers turned around to get photos of the audience, many of whom were on their feet throughout the night honoring Roger and his music.
There have been many requests tonight for Roger to play songs from his album, Open the Door, and that he did. The More I Look, Along Came Mary, and Death and a Zoo are some of the songs that were played off this album that was recorded in France. The crowd was clearly moved and enjoyed hearing these songs, some of which are not often performed. And of course all the classic hits that everyone sang along to stirred the hearts and memories of so many.
The clapping and chanting toward the end of the show went on and on. The full moon in the background was the perfect backdrop to a most magical show.
Next we will be heading to Spain for three shows. We are looking forward to playing for our Spanish friends and fans.
