Another wonderful show in the English countryside on the edge of the Cotswolds. What beautiful scenery we are surrounded by. Rogerís show tonight in Oxfordshire at the Cornbury Festival took place just 12 miles from where he spent his childhood and teenage years and wrote many of the songs that would go on to become classic hits. This event brought many families out for a day of not only great music, but fun. Children were all around with their faces painted and women had garland in their hair. Everyone enjoyed the variety of fine food that was available by the many vendors. Speaking of food, Roger even stopped in the kitchen to tell the chefs that his meal tonight was the best he has had so far on the tour.
When Roger took the stage, he was very warmly greeted by the audience and he stated that it was good to be back in his home country. The crowd loved the show and the kids were dancing right along with their parents. We know the show ended abruptly. We had been contracted to do a 75 minute set but we were suddenly told it had to end at 60 minutes. Roger is sorry he did not get to play Give a Little Bit or Itís Raining Again for you but he does hope to return and play a longer set. In fact, after the show, Roger told me that it was quite emotional for him - not just that he was playing the area he grew up in but seeing all the English faces. He said that he realized how much he missed the English and said he wants to do more shows here. We will return to the UK next spring when Roger plays Albert Hall on April 29. We are very much looking forward to seeing you there!
