Tonight we are in Norway and what a crowd we had for Roger’s show at Steinkjerfestivalen. This was a big celebration weekend for the 10th Anniversary of the festival. The director, Svein Bjørge, asked for Roger to return for this special weekend, as many fans has been asking for Roger since he first performed here in 2007. It is so wonderful to see the whole community coming together for this event. There are over 500 local volunteers who assist with driving, catering, etc. Such a warm family atmosphere all around.
It is interesting to note that when we arrived in Norway last night, it was very late although you’d never know it by looking outside. Even at 2:00AM it was still light! Also, although we are now at the end of June, it certainly does not feel like summer time here. They often say there are two seasons in this country - winter and August 15, which is the one day the sun comes out and the weather is warm! We had several layers of clothes on today including scarves and gloves and had to keep moving all day to stay warm. There were baskets of blankets outside the dressing rooms – Shakti grabbed one immediately.
Although the weather is cool, the hearts of the people and their love for Roger are very warm. When the announcer asked how many people had been here in 2007 when Roger last played – over half raised their hands and cheered loudly.
Norway is so very beautiful - both the scenery and the people. We have had a wonderful time here and are looking forward to retuning in July when Roger plays at Rootsfestivalen on the 17th and at Wrightegaarden on the 18th. Norway, we will see you next month!
