Backstage Pass from Munich, Germany ~ June 24, 2015

Tonight, Roger’s show on this beautiful summer evening was the opening performance of the Tollwood Festival here in Munich. This fourth show of our summer tour was a burst of emotion from the audience. Although it was a seated show, as soon as Roger took the stage, the full house was on their feet and stood in front of the stage. Many even rushed toward the stage and stood in front for the whole show. So very many people were happy to have Roger back at Tollwood for the third time in recent years. We saw not only the audience members but also the festival staff singing along word for word and dancing in the aisles.

Roger was in great spirits, joking with his audience. He performed Love is a Thousand Times, from his Open the Door album, which is not often played and many in the audience stood the whole time, soaking it in. One of the more touching moments in the show was when Roger performed Death and a Zoo. Everyone was mesmerized. One of the themes of this years festival, a hot topic now in Germany, is the inhumane treatment of animals. Roger spoke about the treatment, or in most cases, mistreatment, of animals before the first notes of the song.

The evening ended with smiles all around. Everyone was uplifted, happy, and ready to spread good vibrations wherever they go.

We look forward to our next show in Germany - Calw July 4. Meanwhile, our next stop is Steinkjer, Norway for a festival on Friday night. We hope to see more of you very soon!

I remember two shows, when people so rushed toward the stage and stayed in front of it and the organizers prevented them from and sent them back.
Roger between singing stopped them saying:" Itīs okay! It's okay!"...
That only confirm his words from interview with Germany's Abendzeitung.
..."My enthusiasm is genuine, not played. I never had interest in an elaborate stage show; I always wanted to get in touch with the audience. It's not about me, I am only the servant of the music."...
Wow! What a precious words! And I can say from own experience that truthful.

"...If there were an award for the calmest superstar, it would without a doubt go to Roger Hodgson...No big ego, but the aura of the man is huge...Actually, you could break down all rows of chairs again after the first third of the concert, because hardly anyone was in his seat"...

Yes, this is Rogerīs magic. The purity and harmony of his spirit, his music, warmth and sincerity, acceptance and friendship, all this immediately cancels all limitations and liberates the heart.
I think I still have not read so veracious description of the atmosphere of Roger's show, his personality and music as this from Tollwood.
Hats off! :)
