What a cool city Alzey is! The surrounding area is so pretty, with green farm land and vineyards nearby. Tonight's sold out show was at the Dacapo-Alzey Festival, celebrating its 18th year. It is put on by city for their citizens and as marketing for the city. What a setting! The concert was held in the castle courtyard square with Rogerís dressing room in the city court building. Itís a cozy venue Ė an intimate little square inside the castle walls with gorgeous century-old trees overhanging.
The crowd packed in. They could see Roger and the band come down the stairs to the waiting area backstage and they let out a loud cheer. The very enthusiastic and respectful fans were listening intently during the show and everyone was in great spirits. Standing audiences are great - more engaged and awake. It was fun to watch them from the little side balcony - arms in the air, heads bobbing to Child of Vision; jumping up and down during Itís Raining Again.
After the show, Roger was welcomed by the Mayor and his family. All the people from Alzey were so pleased and proud to host Roger here. Before we left the venue, they were already asking for us to come back! We certainly hope to.
We will see you Monday in Aachen at Kurpark Classix where Roger will be performing with a symphony orchestra and his band.
