Backstage Pass from Chandler, Arizona ~ April 25, 2014
Our tour started tonight in Chandler, AZ at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino. On our arrival, we had a very nice dinner celebrating three birthdays in the group - all on April 24 - Shakti, Kevin, and myself. It was so nice to have everyone together again. When we arrived for soundcheck, we were welcomed back by the promoter who told us Roger is his favorite artist. Roger was pleased to sign two guitars that were auctioned off with the proceeds going to the inner city kids music program and the excitement before the show could be felt all around.
The sold-out crowd warmly greeted Roger with a standing ovation as soon as he walked out on stage. We could not have asked for a better audience for the first show of the tour in such an intimate venue. Each and every song had people watching intently or dancing in their seats. The band, Aaron, Bryan, David, and Kevin flew in the day before from all directions and effortlessly picked right up.
Toward the end of the show, Roger came out for an encore and the audience refused to let him leave the stage. After an ovation lasting several minutes, a third song was performed as part of the encore. Smiles were all around. After the show, Roger and the band were asked to sign the backstage wall to commemorate their visit. Next stop - Milwaukee, WI for four shows with an orchestra on April 30, May 1, 2, and 3. We'll see you there!

May love and joy which you always brings to us like the life-giving sap flows to the fullest again.
God bless you all!
Happy Birthday! It's a good thing, since I don't think they would have let you in if you weren't 21 yet!
Thanks for the write up. Can't wait until Milwaukee.
Amazing setlist yesterday in Chandler. Roger, thank you so much for FINALLY playing at least a "Famous Last Words" song in Chandler! When you said, "You don't have much rain here in Arizona..." I said to my self, "Yes, yes, yes, he's gonna do it!" And it was so nice to hear "Rosie had everything planned" live for the first time in my life. I'll keep hoping to hear you play "Don't leave me now", "Know who you are" or "C'est le bon" one day... "If everyone was listening" is always a treat. It was so great to be sitting there and be able to say to myself, "Hey, I GREW UP listening to this voice! This voice I'm hearing right now is such an essential part of the soundtrack of my life!" Your voice keeps on going and keeps on giving... and not just "a little bit".
My wife Becky & I are SO looking forward to seeing you in Milwaukee this Thursday! We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw you were coming so close to us. I have treasured your music for YEARS and consider this concert part of my bucket list. As a musician, I appreciate your timeless music even more than most people. It touches the soul, and that's what makes it so dear to us. We played your music in our wedding and Give a Little Bit is our marriage theme. I will be holding my Crime of the Century album proudly during the concert! God Bless you Roger, we cannot wait!!!!
It was very nice to meet Roger, Linda, and Shakti after the show. Look forward to meeting again.
