Backstage Pass from Byron Bay, AU
Backstage Pass from Byron Bay, AUWhat a night we had at Byron Bay Bluesfest on Easter Sunday! Even the rainy weather did not keep the crowds away. Luckily, the show was under cover but that still didn't keep people who couldn't fit in the tent from standing out in the weather to watch the show. The lighting and sound were perfect and the crowd was on their feet! The show ignited and everyone was clapping and singing from the first song, forward. At many moments during the concert the audience was singing so loud that many could not here Roger! During the show, a member of the festival staff mentioned that it was as if he was again seeing Supertramp in the 1970's - only this was much better. Another said that they had been to all the shows so far at the festival and that Roger's was by far the best.
What was expressed several times and is so very true is that it's not just Roger's music that people love, he touches people in a spiritual way and has a sense of calmness and peace about him that he shares with his audience. All of this combined is what resulted in thousands of people demanding a return visit from Roger to Byron Bay. We certainly do hope to return again and again. Of all the festivals that Roger plays at around the globe, Bluesfest is by far the most conscious - "green festival." It's a class act all the way.
Here is one comment a concert goer left on Roger's Guestbook - check it out and leave your own comment as well….www.RogerHodgson.com/documents/gb.html
Clem wrote: Hi Roger,Wow, wow, wow. I just returned from Bluesfest after seeing your show which was the highlight of not only Bluesfest, but my whole concert-going life. From the opening chord of 'Take the Long Way Home' you brought tears to my eyes. They flooded again with 'Fool's Overture' and 'Give a little bit'. Playing 'Lady' was a wonderful bonus, I've always loved that song. And I really appreciated you performing 'Death and a Zoo' - special. Roger, your music transcends time. Your ethereal voice, magical musicianship, and meaningful lyrics touches my soul. You are blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful musicians who understand brilliantly your music. I might add that my favourite lyrics of yours is in 'Hide in your Shell' which speaks of a perennial philosophy which I get. Thank you again for an experience that will always be with me. Your smile on stage says it all.

Just wondering if Roger Hodgson bumped into Jon Anderson at the Byron gig. I thought from the itinerary that Anderson played before Hodgson on the same stage. I witnessed Anderson in concert 2 days before Hodgson in Brisbane last week.
What remarkable singer songwriters these 2 are, from the golden era of British rock. 2 veteran cosmic rockers!
