Sonderborg, Denmark ~ July 2, 2011 ~ Review by Bardo Metzger

It’s Raining Again – but not when Roger sings!

In Germany we say that when angels travel the weather will be fine. Well, we drove to Sonderborg, Denmark this Friday and it was raining all the way and also the next day when the concert should take place. At 1 p.m. the rain was coming down vertically so the crew had to take all the instruments and equipment 5 meters back from the front of the stage. For the soundcheck at 4 p.m. the stage was turned into a closed tent.

When the doors opened for the audience at 7 p.m. it was still the same but everybody was well equiped with waterproof jackets and trousers and an optimistic smile on the face. And just in time when Roger and his band entered the stage it really stopped raining. So we are no angels but…

Opening as usual with Take The Long Way Home the audience was singing along with Roger from the first song to the last which was also as usual It’s Raining Again. But thanks God it didn’t start again this evening although Rogers fifth song was London in which he sings about the rain he is missing in California. After the intermission everything was brought back to the edge of the stage and Roger was so close to the audience it was amazing.

One should not think that one concert is like the other. Never! Roger again showed his talent to communicate with his audience also being able to react quickly. The day before the show he got the message that a fan being very close to Roger and his team just passed away. Spontaneously the setlist was changed and he played Puppet Dance for her. Thank you, Roger for being the way you are!

Very unusual but also perfect the next song was Across The Universe written by John Lennon for The Beatles. Roger played in Liverpool a few shows before and thought it was a good idea to have a song of the Fab Four in his show. It was really a good idea!

When Roger sang Don’t Leave Me Now a cold wind was blowing through the stadium just as if the weather wanted to underline the lyrics …Leave Me Out In The Pouring Rain… and …As The Wind Begins To Howl…! Well the weather got colder in this moment but in the audience Rogers voice did his best to keep the fire in the hearts burning.

     O what a evening!
Roger and band withholded the coming of the elements and swapped it with musical delight.
Thakyoy for a moste memory full evening. Only one little drop of vermoutg, would have loved a presentation of the band members.

This about angels it says also in my country..
No , we are not angels but ...
People leaving Roger´s concerts, under the influence of his music and his personality, becomes better, kinder. And this is "angelic".
I wish , that also from our proceeding was so strongly felt in what, and whom we have believed in our lives.
Yes, every concert is different, and every other festive.
Roger's empathy is a characteristic feature of his personality . He touches every heart and opens the good places in it.
I do not know who it was who "Took The Long Way Home", but I prayed for the peace of her soul.
As they say - your friend is also my friend.

Perhaps it can make everyone who reads these reflections.
