A glorious evening was had by all. Every seat in the house was occupied and the crowd was eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Minstrel on stage. And what a night we got - the set list was unbelievable. In Jeopardy, London, If Everyone Was Listening, Don't Leave Me Now, Only Because of You, Know Who You Are - just when I would think it could not get any better, the first notes of the next beauty could be heard. Also, what a great surprise it was for me to be able to see Roger perform Across the Universe again. I saw Roger perform this jewel in Liverpool and I never thought I'd get the opportunity to see him perform it again. I was so very happy for this privilege. Simply stunning. The audience went wild with applause.
As anyone who knows me knows, it is not uncommon for me to get teary during Roger's performances. The sheer beauty of his words and voice, accompanied by his grace, are always enough to bring emotions to the surface and tears on my face. This concert, it was Fool's Overture that got the tears flowing. This performance in Brussels touched me so very deeply. It was so very beautiful and watching him perform it with those emotions etched on his face was so eloquent.
It's amazing that although Roger has performed his songs in concert hundreds, if not thousands, of times, he sings with such passion. The expressions on his face truly convey what he always says - these songs are from deep within him and from his heart. He is not simply going through the motions and putting on a play. He is sharing himself with us.
Several standing ovations and much applause later, it was time for the show to end. We could have listened to Roger for hours more. As people were leaving the venue, I overheard many saying that was the best concert they had ever been to. I understand.
