Only one concert in Spain ... but ... what a concert!. Goose bumps to remind.
It was sunny and warm at day break in Barcelona that predicted all the good things to come.
At the agreed time we come to the Palau de la Música, was the first time I was there, and frankly, there are no words to describe this venue. It's a modernist masterpiece, a venue with a special charm, a venue to enjoy a magnificent concert.
During the soundcheck we realized that the acoustics of the theater was fabulous, It could be noticeable very clearly each note, each accord with an incredible sound. Also, at the end of the soundcheck, we enjoyed the sweet voice of a girl (about 10), who sang "Lord Is It Mine" for Roger, who accompanied her on his grand piano. It was a beautiful moment.
The day of the concert in Barcelona, was a beautiful day for meetings. Back to see friends and meet new ones is always a pleasure. Share a coffee, experiences and live the concert together, make us to be a little more of this international family of Roger's friends, which grows day by day throughout the world.
With British punctuality, started the concert. Roger had asked his Spanish fans their favorite songs, and that's what he did , agree with these requests, making this unique concert in Spain, something very special for everyone.
Audience of all ages standing again and again, with long standing ovations, thanked to Roger his good work, his crystal clear voice that caressed our ears, a set list that included wonderful old songs such as "Surely" that it was a pleasure to hear, until, at least, five songs from his solo works, including "The Awakening" which, personally, I love and I hope some day were released, and of course, his classics that we all expect to hear.
It was thrilling to see all the people who completely filled the venue, getting a new sold out at this successful 2011 tour, stand up shouting: "ROGER, ROGER, ROGER…!!!!” "OE, OE, OE,OEEEEE!!!!!”, non stop!. What a great communion between an artist and his audience.
And as a flourish, the great deference to the Spanish Fan Club. We were welcome in a different hall with an incredible catering.
Along came Roger, with his large smile, with his infinite patience to attend everybody, photos, autographs, chats ... always calm and loving, no matter how tired he is, always full of love for everyone.
We gave him his gifts: an amazing work of art in chocolate, an exact replica of his 12-string guitar with his strap and all, he loved it.
Also we gave him one of our T-shirts, that we wore proudly, for the first time that day, and he did not hesitate to put on , and was kidding if we had accurate to his size J , and our 2010 Memory Tour Book, that became a reality thanks to all the fans all around the world, that were so kind to send me photos and messages for Roger.
He was deeply moved while he was watching the book page by page, taking it easy, looking at every pic and making comments. At one point, while he was flicking through the book, he asked me surprised: "But all these people have been sent these messages for me?" What a man! What humble he is !!!
Thanks, Roger, Linda, for such a fantastic day, full of emotions, I will never forget.
All friends of our Spanish Fan Club want to thank you for all the affection you gave us.
We hope you have felt, at least, a little bit of our love.
