This was Rogerís first appearance at a Disney park and what better occasion than the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival where cultures from all over the world are brought together. Roger performed three sets each evening and every minute was sensational. Even rain on Thursday did not stop the crowds from filling the open air theatre for each of the three shows. Fridayís sunshine brought standing room only crowds to each performance.
As soon as Roger walked out onto the stage, he received a standing ovation for all six performances. The audiences went wild with applause and seemed overjoyed at what was to come. The huge smile on Rogerís face let us know that he was happy with the warmth and love being sent his way.
The sets were limited in time, but to the delight of his fans, Roger used each and every minute to its full advantage. Each show had Roger performing on keyboard, with guitar, and on piano. As always, each and every song was flawless and Rogerís voice was impeccable.
It was so wonderful to see people of all ages in the audiences. Everyone Ė young and old alike Ė were like one big family that was clapping, dancing, singing, and enjoying the fabulous performance unfolding before them. Roger freely talked to his audience between songs and the intimate setting fostered an environment in which we felt as if we were at our own private concert.
Roger received so many standing ovations that I literally lost count. He and his songs are loved so. Dreamer, Breakfast in America, and The Logical Song are just a few that got people on their feet. Because of time limitations, Roger was able to perform only excerpts from Foolís Overture and Hide in Your Shell. The audience embraced these two masterpieces and hung on every note.
One particular highlight for me was hearing Roger perform Two of Us. This song has always held a special place in my heart and I was quite fortunate that I got to hear it both nights. With Rogerís pristine voice and the beautiful lyrics and composition of this song, I was immersed. I have a feeling I was one of many.
